They say you can never be too rich or too thin… well, I totally agree with the rich part but after watching the recent Sao-Paulo Fashion Week I suppose there is such a thing as too thin! All the models look sickly skinny… most of these girls are Brazilian models working on other fashion capitals (N.Y, London, Milan & Paris) most of the year, so expect to see them soon on the major runways, you will be shocked. But most likely, fashion lovers such as you & me already accustomed to the skeleton-anorexic look, we will not be horrified nor surprised when they will step on the runway looking gorgeous with the beautiful designers clothes, we will certainly notice the clothes, the look, the colors, not the frightening size nothing… after all, designers' fashion statement has become about which celebrity is sitting front row, and most of the (gay) designers see the models mainly as clothes hangers other than young lively girls…and on the other hand, part of the fashion world, especially fashion magazines recently adopted the plus-size models look and started supporting the “Normal, healthy look”, but it's still only very little, very few.
It's not something easy to say, but yes, most things looks better on thin girls, thin, not see-through thin, and as a person working in the heart of the industry, I can genuinely say that the Industry does not really support “Normal-healthy” looks, models get skinnier with each season, Lara Stone is considered to be 'plus-size'… it seems as if it will never change, maybe unless large sums of money are involved! As you know – “Money makes the world go round”… I wish the industry can find some balance and establish normal & healthy standards, as they tried in Madrid, but until fashion designers will be swayed to buy skeleton dolls and use them for their shows, they won't take the attention from the clothes, they are chip, never late and as skinny as you can get…
